Day 4

The agenda for today is shopping for groceries, walking, maybe getting a new fancy phone. I want one for the camera function so I can add to the blog with a reminder of my day. I will do more of the distribution today. I was rain-soaked yesterday and didn’t feel well so I came home. I’m finding that 80 is no different from 79. The challenges are the same: exercise, nutrition, positive attitude, friends, dogs, and participation in the community.
New learning curve.

Day 3

Woke up with cold symptoms. Darn it all. I have had health stuff but no flu or colds. Today is damp out and I will distribute Senior News before I go to Karen for a massage. Then I can curl up and snooze all the rest of the day. I enjoyed every bit of the birthday greetings. Made my heart full and a lot of tears too. I do have a wide network of friends and supporters and I reciprocate.

Day 2

I am officially, publicly celebrated and acknowledged for my 80 years on Earth. The cards, telephone calls, e-mails, FaceBook posts, visitors, and especially Hollie’s haiku card all attest to the fact that I am connected, loved, and happy. The lunch with Jackie and Hollie in Klamath was great too. I ate a giant loaded hamburger and shared fudgy chocolate cake with Hollie. All delicious. So now let’s get on with daily life and senior center duty, walking, and loving life.

Day 1

Day 1

It’s a clear cold morning with the promise of warm sun and light breezes. I’m ready to own my 80 years and continue my daily practice of writing a brief history of my life. Today, after a brisk walk to buy bananas, I will get ready for the birthday lunch with Hollie and Jackie in Klamath. We will enjoy the Abalone Grill. The drive will be beautiful. Yesterday Hollie and I went shopping in Brookings and had a good day.
